From a very early age, Lucinda E Clarke always wanted to write, but was ordered to “get a proper job.” Journalists were required to drink their targets under the table to get a story she was told, and alcohol doesn’t agree with her! So she dutifully trained as a teacher, and has taught in seven different countries – from primary school infants to lecturing adults in Technical College. After suffering a mentally abusive childhood, Lucinda had little defense against the Walter Mitty aspirations of the man she married. They moved from country to country, usually one step ahead of the creditors. Eventually Lucinda found the courage to leave him and began to write and write and write. She graduated from radio, to television and then ran her own video production company, winning over 20 awards along the way. She is now in Spain and writing books (pretending be be retired). She is about to publish her fifth book, a sequel in her series about Amie the young girl she took from the comfort of her English home and dumped into a civil war in Africa. (Amie has yet to forgive her for this).

  7. What an interesting About page, and so much more dramatic than mine! It seems we’ve both come into writing late but, as the saying goes, ‘better late than never’. It’s lovely to meet you Lucinda. Your blog looks fascinating and I’m looking forward to following you. 🙂

  12. Lucinda, thanks for stopping by my blog and “liking” my latest post. I’ve just finished your post on resolutions and your about page. It seems our lives mirror one another. Have you written a memoir? I am working my way through edits and revisions to get a draft to a publisher by May 1 with hopes of publishing in 2018. Who knows if that will happen? Good to meet you.     • Hi sherrey, thank you for connecting with me, great to meet you. Yes, I have writted 3 memoirs. The first one Walking over Eggshells (on promo right now @ $0.99) tells the story of my miserable childhood and then after esceping, my marriage to a guy who was shall we sau not the most reliable man in the world! Tow other memoirs, the Truth, Lies and Propaganda are more work relating, how I ‘fell’ inot writing for a living and all the TV programmes and movies I made with the stories from behind the camera. I’m also starting a monthly newsletter – well that’s the plan!!

  19. Ah that’s kind. I’m not sure how or why that name popped into my head, but I do know I googled it to see if there were a couple of hundred other authors with that same name and when I found a showjumper called Lucinda Clarke, I popped an E in the middle. In theory, I should come up top in the SEO! All very scientific these days 🙂

  20. I was luckily born with Clarke, although one Grandmother was Buxton, A pen name? As for Lucinda Clarke, I’ve only known a dressage rider called Lucinda Greenwood and of course, eventer Lucinda Green nee Prior-Palmer plus some other eventing Lucindas, when I was an equestrian journalist.

    • Thanks for the link – I’ve downloaded it so will enjoy it. The Badminton area is beautiful. I went to the event as a photographer and then a journalist before I retired because of ill health. I also co-organised a one-day event at the Clarke family estate – Borde Hill Horse Trials; still going despite my absence.   22. Fascinating reading. Lots in common – horses – video production – freelance writing and experiences!! I too wanted to be a journalist, my grandfather owned a newspaper in China and wrote for Fleet St but I was railroaded into teaching. I desperately wanted to learn to ride but was forced into ballet lessons. But we survived!! I hope your health holds up as best as possible Roland. (And my paternal grandfather was called Roland!)
